Change nodes polling engine ID

This article describes how you can change the nodes polling engine ID when you are prompted with the following warning message during the Configuration Wizard:

Multiple polling engines detected. The database you have selected is currently being used by another SolarWinds application at (Our Live server) Do you still want to use the selected database?


All versions of  NPM


1. Stop all orion services using orion service manager.

2. Go to Database Manager by going to All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features.

3. Run the following query:

      SELECT TOP 1000 * FROM [dbo].[AllEngines]

4. Pull the Engine ID and run the final query adding the correct engine ID to update all nodes.

5. Run this query:

Update [dbo].[AllEngines] set EngineId = 'NumberGoesHere'

Where EngineId =  'NumberGoesHere'

6. Start all services using Orion service manager.



Old EngineId = 1       New EngineId = 2



Update [dbo].[AllEngines] set EngineId = '2'

Where EngineId = '1'
