Some users have devices that are not correctly or completely displayed in the Node details in Orion. This article describes how to change the device details in the Device Studio.

NPM 11.5.3

  1. Obtain an snmpwalk on the device and locate the Sysobject OID from the walk. This is displayed next to the OID or alternatively the device sysobject oid is displayed in the Node details page under the Node details section.
  2. Open the Orion Web Console and go to Settings > Node and Group management > Manage pollers.
  3. Click Create New poller.
  4. Give the new poller an appropriate name in the Poller Package Name.
  5. Select Change test node and locate the node that you want to change the details on.
  6. Add any tags for locating the poller, description and author and then click Next.
  7. Select the Define Data Source as highlighted.
  8. Enter the SysobjectOID obtained from the snmpwalk obtained from the device.
  9. Once this has been added, click Yes the data source is reasonable.

Change any of the listed options, Vendor, Machine Type, etc.:

You are now returned to the Manage pollers page. After locating your new poller, you can assign it to the required nodes by clicking the blue unassigned button and selecting the nodes that you want to use the new poller on.

Note: This new device information may not appear immediately and you may need to click on the rediscover and poll now in the node details page to populate the page with the new data created above.
