Cannot use multiple polling methods to poll nodes with the same IP address

Table of contents

Updated Feb 22, 2017

Overview

When you try to use an agent to poll a node that shares an IP address with another node and you are monitoring the other node with a different polling method, the agent tries to take over monitoring for the node that is already monitored.

Environment

  • All nodes

Detail

This is a known limitation with the agent polling method.

You must use an agent using the agent-initiated communication method and all nodes with the same IP address must be monitored by agents. You cannot monitor one node with an agent and another node using a different method.
