Cannot insert NULL value into column "IsGroupOfEntity"

Overview

The following error message appears during the Configuration Wizard process:

Database configuration failed. Errorwhile executing script - Cannot insert the NULL value into column "IsGroupOfEntity', table 'SolarWindsOrion.dbo.LimitationTypes'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.

Environment

All NPM versions.

Resolution

  1. Open SQL Management Studio.
  2. Go to Tools > Options > Designers.
  3. Under Table Options, deselect Prevent saving changes that require table recreation.

  4. Expand the Orion table to show the tables under the database.
  5. Right click on the LimitationType table and click Design.
  6. Select the Allow Nulls check box for IsGroupOfEntity.

  7. Rerun Configuration Wizard.
  8. Go to Tools > Options > Designers.
  9. Under Table Options, select Prevent saving changes that require table recreation.

Cause

The limitation types table is having issues through NULL values.
