Overview

Getting the following error message:

Bad trap packet received from Node with IP xx.xx.xx.xx

Environment

NPM 11 or later

Cause

  1. This message occurs when you have changed a device to snmpv3 monitoring via Orion web console but are still sending snmpv2 traps to Orion (config on the device itself).
  2. When a node does not exists anymore in the NPM database but you still send traps to the NPM server.

Resolution

Update the node and Orion so that they are both using the same SNMP version either 2 or 3 or, recreate the node in Orion.
