This article provides troubleshooting steps when you may have a use case for auto-acknowledging alerts when triggered. This is a common request from Managed Service Providers who do not want users accessing SolarWinds.

  1. Log in to SolarWinds Web Console.
  2. Go to Manage Alerts.
  3. Edit the Alert you need to have Acknowledged on trigger.
  4. Go to Trigger Actions.
  5. Add a newTrigger Action for Execute External Program.
  6. Set C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe ${N=Alerting;M=AcknowledgeLink} as Network path to external program.
  7. Set a valid Windows User account and save changes.

When the alert triggers the auto-acknowledge link will be executed in Internet Explorer.
