Overview

This article describes how to assign a vendor to an ICMP node added in Orion . Since the nodes are only added with ICMP, therefore no vendor is detected.

Environment

All NPM and Core versions

Steps

Notes:

  • This will not work with nodes added via SNMP.
  • See this Thwack post if you have nodes added in Orion with SNMP credentials and are stil. recognized as unknown for the vendor.
  1. Go to Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Advanced Features > Database Manager > Add Default Server>.
  2. Right click on the the NPM Database (default) NetPerfmon >
  3. Click New Query >  paste the following query:
    update Nodes set Vendor = 'Your_Vendor_Name_Here' where ip_Address = 'Your_Node_IP_ADDRESS_Here
  4. Click Execute Query.

For example:

update Nodes set Vendor = 'MY-ISP-NODE' where ip_Address = '192.168.1.130'

You can then change the IP Address in order to update the table for each node.
