Are SA rights required for the Orion SQL database?

This article describes when you are required to have SA rights when installing a SolarWinds Orion Platform product.

Environment

  • Any Orion Platform product

Detail

 

Install with no database

You must install your Orion Platform product with an account with SA rights to the SQL server. This allows the account to establish a gateway to the database that the product will write to and read from. Once the database is created, you can change the account privileges to Database Owners Rights. 

 

Installing with a pre-existing, blank database

If your DBA creates a blank database for the Orion database in the SQL server, you only need an account with Database Owners Rights.
