Issue

Recipients do not receive emails sent by the Advance Alert Manager. When a test email is sent, it is being sent to the provided SMTP server but does not reach the recipients.

Cause

The issue arises due to one of the following reasons:
1. Aggressive SMTP server rules 
2. Invalid recipient CC field  

Resolution

Solution 1

  1. Open DB manager and navigate to Alert Definition Table
  2. Find the Alert based on Alert name and copy Alertdefinition ID.
  3. Run the query below against Alertlog table:
     select * from Alertlog where Alertdefid ='xxxxxxxxxxxx'
  4. All records related to the troubled alert will be displayed. Check for any errors.

Solution 2

  1. Go to Advance Alert and check Mail recipients (including CC!) and make sure that all email addresses are correct - no typos.
  2. If you're using custom property - email,  go to Nodes Details page.
  3. Check for any typos and make sure that multiple email address are divided by ';' sign. Otherwise email address will be treated as single long email address entry and server will more likely refuse to forward it to the designated recipients.
