When investigating issues using the Orion logs, it may be helpful to increase the logging level or the number of log files with the Orion Log Adjuster.

Orion Core 2013.2.1 and later

  1. Start the LogAdjuster.
You can open the Log Adjuster from the Start menu > SolarWinds Orion > Documentation and Support > Log Adjuster OR from installation directory (by default C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion and search for LogAdjuster.)
  2. Select the logs or service for which you want more details.
  3. In the Control drop-down, select the level required.
    • The debug gives sufficient detail.
    • You can increase the Log file size and number of files.
    • By default, log files are saved at C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs.

  4. Click Apply.
  5. Recreate the issue and check the logs.
  6. When you have the required logs, open the Log Adjuster again.
  7. Click Reset to default and close the Log Adjuster.
  • As of Orion Platform 2017.3, the Log Adjuster resets the DEBUG level to defaults during the Database Maintenance, so you don't need to reset the log levels manually.
  • As of Orion Platform 2017.x, a number of settings are DEBUG or VERBOSE by default.
  • LogAdjuster automatically updates values for size and the number of stored logs depending on the logging level.
