500 Error on the Web Console after a reboot or after running configuration wizard

Updated May 25, 2017

Overview

A 500 Error is displayed on the Orion Web Console after a reboot or after running configuration wizard. Running the Permission Checker temporarily resolves the issue and the error occurs again until another reboot or configuration wizard is run.

Environment

All Orion servers with web console

Cause

This issue is related to the IP Address and Domain Restriction feature in Windows. If installed or not configured, it causes an undetermined conflict that affects the Orion IIS page permissions.

Resolution

  1. Open the Windows Server Manager on all Orion web servers (including the main Orion server), and then remove the IP Address and Domain Restriction feature.
  2. Reboot the server/s to resolve the permissions issue.
