Overview

The following error is received in the NCM resources:

Unable to connect to polling engine <hostname> on the relevant server. Verify that NCM <version> or later is installed on the server.

Environment

NCM 7.2 and later

Steps

Verify the version of NCM on the primary server matches all pollers.

The Poller will check the primary and if the version on the poller does not match, it will throw the message with the version on the poller indicating it does not match the version on the Primary.

so First step is to sure all versions match and if not, install the same version on all pollers.

If not, then you can follow these steps to rule out permission issues or otherwise previously problematic issues during the install.

  1. Log into the server using local server admin account.
  2. Run Configuration Wizard:
    1. NCM 7.2.2 and older - run the Orion Configuration Wizard followed by NCM Configuration Wizard.
    2. NCM 7.3 and newer - run the Orion Configuration Wizard.

Notes:

  1. Run Configuration Wizard with admin privileges (that is, right-click and then select Run As Administrator)
  2. In case of environments with multiple engines (Additional Polling Engines), make sure that the NCM Poller package is installed on these servers.
