Overview

The following error is displayed when creating a new device template:

There was an error retrieving data from SolarWinds Information Service Cirrus.Settings.DecryptData failed, check fault information. The data to be decrypted exceeds the maximum for this modulus of 128 bytes.

Environment

NCM 7.6

Cause 

This issue is related to a bad installation or bad upgrade which originated from insufficient privileges on the account used.

Resolution

  1. Go to Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall the NCM component.
  3. Reinstall NCM using a local server account with administrative rights.
