If you have NCM and NPM integrated and you are installing NCM 7.3 or 7.3.1, you will receive an error that the listed service must be shut down before the installation can continue. In most cases, the installer shuts down al Orion Platform and NCM services prior to installation. However, because the SolarWinds Alerting Service V2 service is newer than the installer software that installs NCM 7.3 or 7.3.1, the installer does not shut it down.

  • NCM 7.3.1
  • NCM 7.3

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:

  1. Manually stop the SolarWinds Alerting Service V2 using Orion Service Manager.
  2. Click Retry to continue installing NCM 7.3.x.
