Overview

Server Application unavailable on any version of NCM running ASP.NET 4.0

 

Environment

  • Orion Core 2012.1.x and older
  • NCM 7.0.2 and older

 

Cause

Issue can occur when ASP.NET 4.0 is running on the server with NCM 7.0.2 (and older) or Orion Core 2012.1.x (or older).

Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Review this log entry to discover the cause of the error. Event ID 1062.

 

 

Steps

  1. Navigate to IIS
  2. Right-click Application Pool
  3. Navigate to New > Application Pool
  4. Name it: NPM\NCM
  5. Open the properties of the SolarWinds website
  6. Click the Home Directory tab
  7. Change the drop down for the Application Pool to the Application Pool you just created.
  8. Restart both IIS Websites
  9. If the issue persists, run through both configuration wizards
  10. Clear the browser cache
