Reset the NCM administrator password

Overview

This article describes how to reset the administrator password for access to the NCM Win 32 Application or the Web components of NCM prior to NCM 7.0.

 

Environment

All versions of NCM prior to NCM 7.3.x when trying to access the NCM Win 32 application

Steps

  1. Go to Start > Programs > SolarWinds Orion Network Configuration Manager.
  2. On the left window, open the NCM Database
  3. Right-click the table Options table and select Query Table.
  4. On the window that opens, click Refresh.
  5. Select Read-Write (Results can be edited).
  6. Locate the value for FirstTimeLogin and double-click False to edit.
  7. Change the value to True.
  8. Click Refresh to verify that the changes have been applied to the database.
  9. Close the Database Manager.
  10. Open the NCM Win 32 Application and log in with a username of Administrator and a blank password. It will prompt you to change to a more secure password.
