Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the following error when downloading configs in NCM web console:

Permission denied for the role

 

Environment

All NCM versions

 

Cause 

The issue is caused by using an account that has no root or administrator priviledes to log in on the affected device.

 

Resolution

  1. On the NCM web console, go to the affected node and click Edit Node.
  2. Under NCM properties, change the Username field with the correct username and update the correct Password field that has the admin or root permissions on the affected device.
  3. Click Submit to finish.
