NCM upgrade from v7.1.1 to v7.2 fails

Overview

  • NCM 7.2.2 installation fails saying product source can't be found.
  • NCM 7.1.1 repair failed saying product source can't be found.
  • NCM 7.1.1 msi is absent in the %allusersprofile%\applicationdata\solarwinds\installers.

 

Environment

  • NCM 7.2.2
  • NCM 7.1.1

 

Cause

On some installation backup MSI files are being manually deleted hence MSIEXEC can not find old version of the package required to uninstall it first.

 

Solution

  1. Download NCM 7.1.1 installer
  2. Extract NCM 7.1.1 msi from the exe and put it into %allusersprofile%\applicationdata\solarwinds\installers
  3. Run the installer and choose to repair NCM 7.1.1 installation.
