Overview

This article provides  brief information and steps to resolve the issue when NCM reports show  less or no data. For example, Cisco stack switch report not showing all the devices.

This report should bring all of your Stack Switches for your current environment, however,  you have noticed there are missing nodes from same vendor, same IOS or same configuration.

 

 

 

For that report to be populated, you need to see the data in the NCM tables. Only then the data will be listed in the reports 

 

For example NCM_Entity_Physical table as below:

 

 

If there is no data in the NCM tables, the node will not be included in the report at all.

 

Above data has been collected through the NCM Nightly Network Inventory job. 

 

Environment

NCM 7.2 and later

 

Cause 

Most commonly cause is NCM Nightly Network Inventory Job  might be disabled / or expired and never ran . In this screen shot it was ran last 2015 so it had reached its End time . 

 

 

Resolution

Most commonly cause is NCM Nightly Network Inventory Job  might be disabled / or expired and never ran . In this screen shot it was ran last 2015 so it had reached its End time . 

NCM > Jobs > Locate the Nightly Network Inventory Job  note when it ran last time . If its disabled ? 

 

Make sure its not ended and had not reached to its End date see below screen shot 

Extend the above date and run this job manually for larger environment it could  take hours . 

 

When editing this job make sure you have selected options to collect the inventory (see screen shot below ) only then the data will be collected from the device . 

 

Once Done above before you run your report make sure you have run the Option " Update Inventory" see below 

 

 

Select the vendor you wish to run the inventory update 

 

Wait for it finish 100% 

 

 

Once done 

On this point you should have the data available in the NCM tables NCM_Entity_Physical

for the nodes missing in report. 

 

 

Results you should be able to see the node and the data in the report now as below
