Overview

When migrating NCM to a new server, any custom jobs created on the old server are not listed.

Environment

  • NCM 7.1.1 and older

Cause

Jobs are created as tasks in Windows Tasks Scheduler and need to be manually migrated.

Resolution

When NCM is migrated to a new server and custom jobs were created on the old server, those jobs must be imported to the new server.
On the old server the job files will exist in one of two possible paths:

C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NCM\Jobs\

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Configuration Management\Jobs\

Copy these files from the old NCM server to the new NCM server and place them in the following location:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NCM\Jobs\

Next you should remove any default jobs in the NCM web console using the following steps.

  1. Click on the CONFIGS tab on the Orion website and select Jobs
  2. Delete the jobs listed there.

Notes:

  • When you run the configuration wizard for NCM it will repopulate the NCM Jobs website with the jobs listed in the C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NCM\Jobs\ folder.
  • When migrating NCM jobs do not migrate any NCM Run Once jobs because it is possible that the new NCM job engine will re-run these run once if they were in the past.
