This article provides brief information and steps to address truncated or wrapped lines of backed up configuration.

All NCM versions

Such behavior would be attributed to the way device outputs config while listing it. Some dives allow to set terminal width to be set to 0 which means unlimited size. Some devices do not and typical terminal widow is 80x25 which will result in lines being truncated. Also some devices will wrap longer lines to accommodate for full output of longer lines.

First you will need to check directly on device what is happening when submitting config download command. And if behaviour is as described below you can check in device's documentation or relevant resources (i.e.e vendor) how this can be changed. In case there are commands allowing to change behavior at the session level you can modify template and apply these to the RESET command in device's template. To do so follow steps below:

  1. Depending on the version of NCM you are using, follow the relevant steps to modify device template. For instructions, refer to the NCM Administrator Guide.
  2. Add command like one below (example below is for Cisco devices):

<Command Name="RESET" Value="terminal width 0${CRLF}terminal length 0"/>
