VLANs are not displayed in the Config Change Template

Overview

When a Config Change Template for operations against a VLAN are run, the VLANs are not being presented so they can be selected.

Environment

  • NCM 6.1 and later

Cause

This occurs because the inventory for interfaces have not been run, the extended VLANs option is not selected, or the devices are not responding to SNMP queries for the IF-MIB when the inventory is run.

Resolution

  1. Open the Orion Web Console and click Settings > NCM settings > Node Inventory.
  2. Select the Standard section Interfaces and Bridge Tables.
  3. At the bottom of the page, select Extend VLANs inventory.
  4. Click Submit.

Once an inventory is run on all the desired nodes, the VLAN options should be populated.

If a job is scheduled for inventory, ensure the Interfaces and Bridge Tables are selected for that job too.

Note: The information presented will only be current as of the last inventory run. SolarWinds suggests running a job routinely and before any job where inventory data is used in the Config Change template or before any job where commands issued based on this data are used.
