Overview

When you attempt to download configs from HP FF 5700-40XG-2QSFP+ Switch using NCM, the following error occurs even when the credentials used are correct:

Connectivity issues, discarding configuration (or configuration is too short)

Environment

NCM, all versions

Cause

The issue is caused when the HP device uses a different command to show the configuration.

Resolution

Depending on the version of NCM you are using, follow the relevant steps to add a template. For instructions, refer to the NCM Administrator Guide.

Change the downloadconfig command value to "display current-configuration":

        <Command Name="RESET" Value="terminal width 1920 ${CRLF}terminal length 2000" />
    <Command Name="Reboot" Value="reload${CRLF}Yes" />
    <Command Name="RebootAt" Value="reload at ${HH}:${NN}${CRLF}Yes" />
    <Command Name="EnterConfigMode" Value="config t" />
    <Command Name="ExitConfigMode" Value="end" />
    <Command Name="Startup" Value="config" />
    <Command Name="Running" Value="running-config" />
    <Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="display current-configuration" />
    <Command Name="UploadConfig" Value="${EnterConfigMode}${CRLF}${ConfigText}${CRLF}${ExitConfigMode}" />
    <Command Name="DownloadConfigIndirect" Value="copy ${ConfigType} ${TransferProtocol}://${StorageAddress}/${StorageFilename}" />
    <Command Name="UploadConfigIndirect" Value="copy ${TransferProtocol}://${StorageAddress}/${StorageFilename}  ${ConfigType}" />
    <Command Name="EraseConfig" Value="write erase${CRLF}Yes" />
    <Command Name="SaveConfig" Value="write memory" />
    <Command Name="Version" Value="show system" />
  </Commands>
</Configuration-Management>
