Overview

NCM fails to download configs from Cisco Wireless Controllers (WLC) using the default WLC template and transferring via TFTP

Environment

  • NCM all versions

Cause

The time to establish connection (Telnet/SSH) is longer than the limit set, making the connection is time out.

Resolution

  1. Open Orion Web Console.
  2. Go to Settings > NCM Settings > Protocol Settings.
  3. Set Telnet/SSH Connection and Prompt timeouts to a sufficient time to allow the transfer of the config.  Should start at 120 seconds and incrementally test from there.
  4. Click Submit
  5. Ensure the TFTP IP address is the IP address of the NCM server.  Either Statically or set to ${ServerAddress} in the Device tempalte

Note:

For NCM 7.3.2 and earlier, if NCM desktop application is running, restart it for the new settings to take affect.
