Overview

NCM scheduled jobs run but do not execute any associated actions. Also, specific job logs are not being generated.

Example errors found in General.log are:

Jobs - Database.OpenDatabase. Error: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Jobs - Database.OpenDatabase. Error: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Environment

  • NCM, all supported versions

Cause

This issue is caused by invisible characters that were added to the end of the host name of the SQL Server when it was reconfigured using the Configuration Wizard.

Resolution

  1. Run the Configuration Wizard.
  2. Select the Database option.
  3. Delete invisible characters to correct the host name.
  4. Complete Configuration Wizard.
