NCM inventory polls IP addresses other than the Polling IP Address

Updated August 27, 2018

Overview

The NCM inventory can poll for IP addresses discovered by the Orion Platform, but are not designated as the polling address. This feature can help you overcome situations where an access control list (ACL) may be blocking a port on an IP, but not others.

Environment

NCM 7.X and later

Resolution

This feature can be disabled if it is causing security concerns.

  1. Go to Settings > All Settings > Product Specific Settings > NCM Settings > NCM Node Management > Node Inventory.
  2. At the bottom of the page, select Disable inventory lookup.
