NCM Partially Backs Up Netscaler Configs But Shows Them as Done

Overview

When you download configs in NCM for the Citrix Netscaler, there are numerous lines missing.

Environment

  • NCM, all versions

Steps

  1. In the Orion Web Console, choose Settings --> All Settings --> Manage Device Templates.
  2. Search for Netscaler and choose Copy.
  3. Add this line inside the commands content:
     <Command Name=”UseExactPromptMatch” Value=”True”/>  
  4. Template XML should look like this:

    <Configuration-Management Device="NetScaler Load Balancer" SystemOID="1.3.6.1.4.1.5951.1">
        <Commands>
            <Command Name="EnterConfigMode" Value="config terminal"/>
            <Command Name="UseExactPromptMatch" Value="True"/>   
            <Command Name="ExitConfigMode" Value="end"/>
            <Command Name="Startup" Value="configuration"/>
            <Command Name="Running" Value="running"/>
            <Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="Show ${ConfigType}"/>
            <Command Name="UploadConfig" Value="${EnterConfigMode}${CRLF}${ConfigText}${CRLF}${ExitConfigMode}"/>
            <Command Name="SaveConfig" Value="saveconf"/>
            <Command Name="Version" Value="show version"/>
        </Commands>
    </Configuration-Management>

  5. Click Save.

  6. Assign the Device Template to the Netscaler Device with the issue.

  7. Manually Download the Configuration (Running or Startup ) to Test.
