Overview

This article addresses the following error that appears when running the Configuration Wizard to upgrade NCM 7.4 to 7.5:

Access to the path 'C:\InetPub\SolarWinds' is denied.

The following error also appears in the ConfigurationWizard.log file:
[1] ERROR CwMetricMonitor - Something went wrong while inserting metrics into database.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Invalid object name 'dbo.ConfigWizardMetric'.
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection, Action`1 wrapCloseInAction)

Environment

NCM 7.x

Cause

This is caused by a permission issue on the C:\InetPub\SolarWinds directory.

Resolution

  1. Rename the SolarWinds folder C:\InetPub\SolarWinds to C:\InetPub\SolarWinds_Old
  2. Create a new SolarWinds folder within the C:\InetPub\ directory.
  3. Rerun the Configuration Wizard and specify the newly-created folder.
