Invoke failed: Error on NCM Global Connection Profile

Overview

The NCM Settings/NCM Global Connection profile displays an error message when being accessed. When editing properties for the nodes, it also shows an error message. 

Error: There was an error retrieving data from SolarWinds Information Service. Invoke failed. check fault information.

Environment

NCM, all supported versions

Resolution

  1. Log in to Orion Server and check timestamp and logs.
  2. Check for the following errors in the Information Service logs:
  • RSACryptography 
  • NCM Connection Profile
  1. Open Database Manager > NCMGlobalSettings > and then delete everything except for port numbers 22 and 23.

  1. Access the web console and apply the new Global Connection Profile credentials.

Note: This issue can also occur in Custom Connection Profiles.
