Learn how RTN (Realtime Change Detection) works in NCM.

In order for RTN to work on an environment with multiple polling engines, make sure that the Main Poller and all APE's (Additional Polling Engines) can send an email to the SMTP server. You can do a simple SMTP Test Email via Telnet to see if each poller can send a test email.

 

Sample Telnet Command test:

telnet <smtp server IP> 25
helo <your domain (sample: domain.com)> <CR>
mail from: <email account> <CR>
rcpt to: <email account> <CR>
data <CR>
This is a test mail from the SMTP server <CR>
. <CR> [single dot on it's own terminates message text]
Quit <CR>
