Error: Cannot start SolarWinds TFTP Server ActiveX component can't create object

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the following error:

Cannot start SolarWinds TFTP Server ActiveX component can't create object

Environment

All NCM versions

Resolution

  1. Download the SolarWinds TFTP Server installer
  2. Uninstall TFTP Server by right-clicking C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Installers\SolarWindsTFTPServer.msi > Uninstall.
  3. Remove TFTP registry entries
    1. Run regedit.exe to edit the registry.
    2. Create a backup of the registry before you proceed.
    3. Click Find... on the Edit menu, and then search for TFTPServerEx.
    4. delete all results for 'TFTPServerEx' from your Registry. This includes the folder that shows the result. The NCM TFTPServer     version is 9.x.x.x, and the folder is linked to the NCM installation folder.
  4. Reinstall TFTP using the installer from step 1.
  5. After this, please re-run the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard with Services component checked only, to repair the services. For detailed steps please refer to the following article:
