Download the startup config of a context from an ASA device

This article describes how to download the startup configuration of a context from an ASA device.


NCM 7.5 and later


The following example shows how to download the startup config of a context named Public.

  1. Go to Settings > All Settings > NCM Settings > Configs.
  2. Add a config type called Public_Startup.
  3. Edit the template of the ASA device:
           <Command Name="RESET" Value="terminal pager 0"/>
           <Command Name="Startup" Value="show start"/> 
           <Command Name="Running" Value="show run"/>

           <Command Name="Public_Startup" Value="changeto context Public${CRLF}show start"/>
           <Command Name="DownloadConfig" Value="${ConfigType}" RegEx="#"/>
           <Command Name="UseMultipleDownloadCommands" Value="True"/> 
           <Command Name="Reboot" Value="reload noconfirm"/>
           <Command Name="EnterConfigMode" Value="config terminal"/>
           <Command Name="ExitConfigMode" Value="end"/>
           <Command Name="EraseConfig" Value="write erase${CRLF}Yes"/>
           <Command Name="SaveConfig" Value="write memory"/>
           <Command Name="Version" Value="show version"/>
  4. Save the device template and assign it to the device.
