WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Issue:

The result of running diagnostics is that all config files in the NCM config archive are included in the package.

Solution:

If NCM's Config Archive is included in the NCM installation directory, then the diagnostics tool captures files with .config as part of its creation of the results..

Move the Config Archive folder to another directory.

To move the Config Archive folder:

  1. In the Orion Web Console, open NCM Settings (Settings->NCM Settings->Configs).
  2. Change path of the Config Archive to a directory outside of Orion installation directory.
  3. In the Orion Web Console, under Configs > Jobs, for any NCM config export jobs, change the directory target to the new Config Archive path.
  4. In the local file system, move the existing Config Archive folder from the NCM installation directory to another location.
