Configuration Management devices cannot be selected or no device is listed

This article will correct the issue when NCM Configuration Management devices cannot be selected or no device is listed




  1. Go to the following log file: C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\InformationService\v3.0\Orion.InformationService.log.
  2. Search for the ERROR at the bottom on the log file:

NCM 7.5 and later


There was a custom property called ‘Name’ on Orion.  This column was added to the Configuration Management grid and sorting was applied. NCM was still trying to sort based on this custom property even after it was removed.


Go to NCM > Configuration Management page and click on any other column in grid. This will reset sorting and should resolve issue.
