Overview

Error in NCM 7.7 with OrionPlatform 2017.3.3 SP3 

 

Error NCM business layer.

2017-12-08 12:30:46,720 [Main] FATAL SolarWinds.NCM.BusinessLayerPlugin.NcmBusinessLayerPlugin - Unhandled Exception caught in plugin startup.System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'SolarWinds.NCM.Transport.ConfigArchive.ConfigTransfer' threw an exception. ---> System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Void SolarWinds.Orion.Cli.Credentials.Installer.Install(SolarWinds.Coding.Utils.IoC.IContainer)'.

 

There was an error retrieving data from SolarWinds Information Service
Cirrus.ApproveQueue.GetApprovalMode failed, check fault information.
There was no endpoint listening at net.pipe://localhost/orion/ncm/businesslayer that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

Cause 

Installing Hot Fix Bundle for products with Orion 2017.3 – released December 8th, 2017

Resolution

Solution #1

  1. This issue has been resolved by installing NCM hot fix 3 released December 12, 2017

Solution #2

  1. Stop all Orion services.
  2. Navigate to the NCM install location. Usually it's C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NCM. Make a backup first and delete SolarWinds.Orion.Cli.IoC.dll and SolarWinds.Cli.Contracts.dll
  3. Navigate to ..\CLI (C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\CLI). Make backup and replace SolarWinds.Coding.Utils.dll and SolarWinds.Coding.Utils.Windows.dll to the NCM install location
  4. Start Orion services.

 

Solution #3 

Uninstalling NPM 12.2 hotfix 3

  1. Use an administrator account to log in to the server that hosts your SolarWinds Orion installation.
  2. Run the Orion Service Manager, click Shutdown Everything, and close the Orion Service Manager.
  3. Navigate to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > View installed updates.
  4. Select "Update for SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor v12.2(HF3)", click Uninstall, and complete the uninstallation wizard.
