Overview

This article provides information about manually assigning device templates to nodes in NCM, allowing to backup the device configs.

Environment

Cause

You might want to assign a device template manually to a node or a group of nodes if you have created a device template yourself or if NCM is having issues downloading configs using the current device template which might be incorrect.

Resolution

  1. Click Settings > Manage Nodes.
  2. Select a node (or nodes), and then click Edit Properties.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and make sure Manage Node(s) with NCM is set to Yes.
  4. Under NCM Properties > Communication, click the Device Template drop-down list and select a Device Template.
  5. Click Submit.
