Jobs are not running as scheduled or on command

Overview

NCM jobs are not running as scheduled or on command. The job log does not show any information and it never starts manually or it just starts and stop.

Environment

NCM 7.x

Cause 

One or more module services is corrupted.

Resolution

Disable Windows UAC and reboot the affected server.

Do the following steps if the above resolution does not work:

  1. Go to Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features and open Orion Service Manager.
  2. Select Shutdown All Services.
  3. Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (or Programs and Features in Server 2008.
  4. Right click and uninstall the following applications:
    SolarWinds Collector Service
    SolarWinds Information Service
    SolarWinds Job Engine v1
    SolarWinds Job Engine v2
    Note: If UAC is enabled or the reinstallation fails for Job Engine v1, open CMD as an administrator and change the directory to the installation path of Job Engine v1 and then launch the installer. This will get you past the UAC block.
  5. Once uninstalled, go to:
    Windows 2003
    C:\Documents and settings\all Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\Installers.
    Windows 2008/2012
    C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers
    Note: These folders are hidden by default.
  6. Run and install the following:
    CollectorInstaller.msi
    JobEngine.msi
    JobEngine.v2.msi
    InformationService.msi
  7. Restart the services.
