Inventory Data Missing for VLANs

Overview

This article provides information on addressing issue with incomplete VLAN information collected from devices in device inventory in NCM 7.0 and later.

Environment

NCM 7.0 and later

Cause

Likely cause is that the VLAN or Extended VLAN information collection is disabled.

Resolution

When VLAN information is incomplete try these steps:

  1. Enable the "Extended VLANs Inventory" option on the Inventory Settings page (Settings > NCM Settings > Node Inventory).
  2. Restart the NCM Win32 application
Note: In NCM 7.4 and later the Win32 Desktop Application does not exist anymore
  3. Re-run the device inventory.

If the VLANS are still not displaying, confirm with an SNMP walk the device is sending the vlan information based on the RFC IF-MIB.

VLAN information currently is collected on Cisco devices using CISCO-VLAN-MEMBERSHIP-MIB and CISCO-VTP-MIB.
