Import nodes to NCM using a CSV file

Overview

This article provides steps for NCM 7.x  to import nodes into NCM from a spreadsheet. 

Environment

  • NCM version 7.x

Steps

Use the Nodes Importer tool. It is a utility that enables importing nodes to the Orion Platform database as a batch.

  1. Download the NCM Node Importer Tool.
  2. Extract the files from the ZIP archive into a local directory.
  3. Copy NCM.NodeImporter.exe and NCM.NodeImporter.exe to the SolarWinds Orion installation folder.
    The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion.

    Note: The SolarWinds.NCM.NodeImporter.exe.config file contains information required for establishing connection to the Orion Platform.Do not modify it.

    1. Prepare a .CSV file with data organized based on the following template:

  4. Double-click NCM.NodeImporter.exe.
  5. Browse to the .CSV source file you created, and then click Next.
  6. Verify the symmetry of the source and input columns of data, and then click Next.

    The utility imports data.

  7. Click Exit when importing is complete.
