Import a device template into NCM 7.4

Overview

In NCM 7.4, device templates are stored in the database and no longer references the Device Templates in the Device Folder in the NCM installation Folder. This makes it easier since there is a Central location. The ability in import the device templates makes it possible to easily add content from thwack or even Custom Templates that may have been missed during an upgrade. This article provides steps on how to import a device template into NCM 7.4.

Environment

NCM version 7.4

Steps

​For those that have internet connection:

  1. Open the Orion Web Console with an Orion Admin Account.
  2. Go to Settings > NCM settings > Advanced Settings > Device Templates.
  3. Click the Shared Templates on Thwack.
  4. Supply Thwack login credentials if prompted.
  5. Select the Device template(s).
  6. Click Import.


For Those that do not have internet connection:

  1. Manually download and move templates to the Machine you are accessing the Orion Web Console from (this could be from Thwack or other locations one may have saved Device Templates).
  2. Open the Orion Web Console with an Orion Admin Account.
  3. Go to Settings > NCM settings > Advanced Settings > Device Templates.
  4. In the device Templates Managment Tab, click the Import Icon.
  5. Browse to the folder the Device Templates are located and select.
  6. Click submit.
