Overview

This article describes how to create a custom configuration type to accommodate certain requirements, such as different contexts on devices. Although the standard configurations are categorized as a Running and Startup configuration, there are times when one may need to back up a configuration other than the former.

Environment

NCM 7.0 and later

Detail

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console
  2. Go to Settings > NCM Settings > Configs.
  3. Create a new config type.
  4. Assign a name and click Add new.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Edit the template by adding the following line:
<Command Name="config type name as added in the NCM settings" Value="desired command"/>

Note: To copy content without line numbers, hover over the text and click the view source button (View Source). This opens a new window where you can select and copy text without any formatting or line numbering.

  7. Save the template.

Note:

  • If you are on any version prior to NCM 7.3 and the NCM Win32 desktop application is opened, you may need to close it and reopen it to reset the NCM schema.
  • After completing the steps, when selecting a config to download, options for Running, Startup or the custom config types should be available.
