Overview

When you view graphs using the Rate (kbps) option, it is possible for you to see spikes in your graph that are well above the capability of the interface.

Environment

This behavior has been seen in the Cisco IOS 2800 Software version 12.4(9)T3 and some other minor versions.

Cause

Device appears to be sending duplicate data

Resolution

At this time, the current direction is to open a case with Cisco and include a packet capture from the device. You will see that the device is sending duplicate data in the packet capture.
