Unable to license Netflow or Netflow is not listed in License Manager

Overview

After installing Netflow, there is no option to activate the license during installation. When opening License Manager, Netflow is not listed which makes you unable to activate the license. In other instances, Netflow is listed in License Manager but you receive the following error when activating the license:

RTM date is not set for Evaluation Orion Netflow Traffic Analyzer:3

 

Environment

  • NPM 12.x and later
  • NTA 4.x and later

 

Cause 

This occurs when the Flow Storage database has been installed in the Netflow install directory. For example, you installed it in D:\Program Files x86\Solarwinds\Orion\NetfflowTrafficAnalysis directory, this leads the Flow Storage service to interfere with licensing Netflow.

 

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the Flow Storage database on a different folder, preferably on a separate disk.
