Starting of SolarWinds NTA Flow Storage failed

Overview

After upgrading the server to a new OS, the following error is displayed when upgrading and trying to run the NTA Flow Storage database:

Starting of SolarWinds NTA Flow Storage Service failed.

 

 

The following error is displayed when trying to start the service through Windows Services:

Error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start and cannot start the remote access connection manager service.

Environment

  • NTA 4 and later
  • Windows Server 2012 and later

Cause 

This occurs when NTA service dependencies are not started in Windows Services, such as the Net.TCP Port Sharing service.

Resolution

  1. Open Services.
  2. Start Net.TCP Port Sharing Service.
  3. Right-click Net.TCP Port Sharing Service and select Properties. 
  4. In the Dependencies tab, verify that the dependencies are all running.
