SQL macro alert action does not display the full path (FQDN)

Updated April 20, 2017

Overview

The following SQL alert macros do not properly return the full path (FQDN) of the SolarWinds Orion Web Console for the displayed link. It only shows a \\ at the start of the string instead of the hostname of the server:

  • ${SQL:SELECT Macro FROM NetFlowAlertMacros WHERE ID='InInterfaceDetailsLink'}
  • ${SQL:SELECT Macro FROM NetFlowAlertMacros WHERE ID='OutInterfaceDetailsLink'}

The NTA generated link for each of the actions is similar to the following:

\\Orion\TrafficAnalysis\NetflowInterfaceDetails.aspx%3fViewKey=NetFlow%2520Interface%2520Details%2520for%2520Alerts&NetObject=NI:XXXXX;T:2017-04-11T15:49:18~2017-04-11T15:54:18;FD:

Environment

NTA 4.2.2 and earlier

Cause

The issue is caused when relative IDs are used in the macro where they should be "absolute" variations.

Resolution

Use the following IDs with the absolute path:

  • InInterfaceDetailsLinkAbsolute
  • OutInterfaceDetailsLinkAbsolute
