Overview

When upgrading to NTA 4 and later versions, Orion makes use of the FlowStorage Database and will not add new Netflow data in the Orion database. If you chose to retain the previous data during migration, this article will describe how to remove it after the migration.

Environment

NTA 4 and later versions

Steps

  1. Take a full backup of the Orion database.
  2. Run the following query against the Orion Database:
    --Start--
    UPDATE NetFlowGlobalSettings
    SET Value = 2
    WHERE Keyname = 'MigrateSqlFlows.MigrationOption'
    --End--
  3. Restart the Netflow service on the Orion server, followed by all additional polling engines.

When the Netflow service sees that the setting changed in the database, it will trigger the removal of the stale information from the Orion database. This will cause no changes on the FlowStorage Database.
