NTA Website performance with charts returning data

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when data for NTA takes a while to load a set of timeframe of 10 hours or more. A spinning icon displays while loading takes place. Another symptom could be that all parts of the application are loading slowly.

Environment

  • NTA version 4.1
  • NPM version 11.5.2

Cause 

The issue is caused when anti-virus exclusions are not added.

Disk queue length on the drive.

This can also occur when two duplicate resources are on the same page.

Resolution

  1. Add all Anti-Virus Exclusions on all server.
  2. Open Performance Monitor.
  3. Expand Physical Disk.
  4. Add Avg. Disk Queue Length counters.
  5. Remove any duplicated resources

If the value of Avg. Disk Queue Length exceeds twice the number of spindles, then you are likely developing a bottleneck. With a volume set, a queue that is never shorter than the number of active physical disks indicates that you are developing a bottleneck.
