NTA Website performance with charts returning data

Updated August 12, 2016

Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when data for NTA takes a while to load a set of timeframe of 10 hours or more. A spinning icon displays while loading takes place. Another symptom could be that all parts of the application are loading slowly.

Environment

  • NTA version 4.1
  • NPM version 11.5.2

Cause

The issue is caused when anti-virus exclusions were not added.

Disk queue length on the drive.

This can also occur when two duplicate resources are on the same page.

Resolution

  1. Add all Anti-Virus Exclusions on all server.
  2. Open Performance Monitor.
  3. Expand Physical Disk
  4. Add Avg. Disk Queue Length counters.
  5. Remove any duplicated resources

Note: If the value of Avg. Disk Queue Length exceeds twice the number of spindles, then you are likely developing a bottleneck. With a volume set, a queue that is never shorter than the number of active physical disks indicates that you are developing a bottleneck.

NTA Flow Storage Database requirements follow the resources needed per the Admin guide or charts will load slow because of disk performance.
