NTA NBAR chart displays unknown applications

Overview

When observing the NTA NBAR charts, the list has an application that shows as Unknown.

Environment

NTA 4.2.x and later

Cause 

This is listed in the Cisco Application table and is by design.

Resolution

  1. Run Wirehshark to see what NBAR application data is being sent to the collector. 
  2. Examples of what the IDs look like in Wireshark and the Cisco Application Table:
  3. After identifying the application in Wireshark, you can run the following command on the Cisco device to identify the application:
    show flow exporter option application table
