SolarWinds NTA licensing

Updated June 7th, 2016

Licensing for SolarWinds NTA follows the license level of your underlying SolarWinds NPM installation. For example, if you have an NPM license for SL250, your NTA license must also be SL250.

When upgrading licenses, the license levels must also match. If you have an NTA license for SL250 and an NPM license for SL250, and you upgrade the NPM license to SL500, you also have to upgrade the NTA license to SL500 or NTA won’t work.

The following types of SolarWinds NTA licenses are currently available:

  • SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer for Orion SL100
  • SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer for Orion SL250
  • SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer for Orion SL500
  • SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer for Orion SL2000
  • SolarWinds NetFlow Traffic Analyzer for Orion SLX

As your database size increases with the addition of more flow-enabled devices, consider first collecting NetFlow data on one or two interfaces for a period of time to understand the memory requirements of your installation. Then, add more interfaces to ensure that your database scales as needed.

Though licensing limits the maximum number of interfaces you can monitor with SolarWinds NTA, the effective capacity of your installation may be lower if the monitored interface throughput is especially high.

See SolarWinds Orion Platform product licensing in the NPM Administrator Guide for information about activating, deactivating, upgrading, or synchronizing licenses.
