These release notes provide additional guidance for SolarWinds Orion NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) v3.10.0.
Orion NTA version 3.10.0 includes the following new features and improvements:
The new interactive charts in Orion NTA let you easily zoom in to focus on problem areas. The new charts load faster than the previous charts, and display tool tips on mouseover. Orion NTA enables the new charts by default on all views.
Orion NTA is now fully localized in Japanese. Customers interested in running the Japanese version of NTA will need to perform a fresh Orion NTA installation. For more information on localizing Orion NTA, see Installing a Localized Version of Orion NTA in theSolarWinds Orion NetFlow Traffic Analyzer Administrator Guide.
Orion NTA can now receive flows from non-SNMP-enabled devices, such as the VMware® vSwitch®. Orion NTA achieves this support by receiving flows from unmanageable interfaces from nodes NPM manages. Adding the device’s interface to NPM enables the NetFlow Receiver Service to process the flow data it exports to NTA.
Orion NTA is now backwards-compatible with sFlow versions 2 and 4, in addition to already supporting sFlow version 5.
Orion NTA can now be used with Microsoft's newest database, SQL Server 2012.

A lazy upgrade from Orion NTA 3.9 to Orion NTA 3.10.0 with 50 million endpoints can take more than one day under load, receiving full amounts of data and loading resources.
Note: Fewer than 10% of all Orion NTA customers will have more than 50 million endpoints.
During a lazy upgrade, you will be able to use NetFlow, but our tests found up to 5 times higher load times of endpoint-related resources. These resources included:
The upgrade also results in a generally higher database load, so other performance of modules in same environment could also be affected. When the upgrade finishes, performance returns to normal.
When Orion NTA 3.8, 3.9, and 3.10.0 are used with Orion NPM, it is possible to configure Orion NTA's Customize Page feature to show or hide Orion NPM subviews that Orion NTA does not support. When the subview is not supported, Orion NTA creates the new subview with the specified resources. However, if you submit the new view and return to the customized page, no left navigation exists, so the new subview is inaccessible and not usable. Users should disable the Orion NTA Customize Page show/hide subview functionality when using the stated versions of Orion NTA.
Orion NTA 3.7 has entered the End-Of-Life (EOL) cycle. This means that SolarWinds will no longer provide any form of support (such as covering call, engineering updates, etc.) for Orion NTA version 3.7 or older. See the SolarWinds EOL Policy online for more information.
